This is a Copy/Paste from my own journal. It's a bit wordy... no pictures. Just a rant I felt might need to be shared with fellow comic artists. ( Read more... ) |

Done and done
Hey everyone! This is Beth again. I had my gig this weekend complete with my shirts! I was feeling a little bit discouraged since some people said it was going to be a really hard job, but I think I did okay for my first attempt. I made 10 shirts and sold all of them after my show. Big win for me! So I decided to take a picture of my first ever screen printed shirt for you guys. It is intentionally grungy and faded looking. Let me know what you think! ( woah! look at me! ) Current Mood: accomplished |

Jeebus is the Reason for the Season!
Announcing the 2009 ThriftHorror Christmas Craptacular Contest! With a prize! And dancing clowns! No, no dancing clowns. We have standards. This year's contest--it's going to be kind of like finding Waldo--is to find amazing, terrifying, unintentionally funny or "found art" Jesuses. Jesii. I don't think his name usually takes plurals. Nativities are good, too. Here's the catch, and the challenge--it must be a CHRISTMAS Jesus! Yes, he IS the poster boy for Easter, but since this is a Christmas contest, it's gotta be something that was created to be brought out for Christmas. Christmas Jesus is a sometimes treat. Aaaand--PLEASE be somewhat kind when you talk about your finds. There's a lot of impish humor wandering around this community (no really?) but steer away from the edged humor on this one, since, well, center of a major world religion and all. I'll be posting a follow-up to this one on Wednesday, December 23, for final judgement. You MUST post your finds as a comment with picture to that post, or it'll fall between the cracks. Peace out, Spotty Logic (community mod) |

10.6 installed best thing about Snow Leopard so far: It restores per-application persistence for input method settings, i. e. I can have a Japanese keyboard set for my dictionary app and an English one set in the document I'm typing my translation into, and when I cmd-tab between the two processes the input method changes accordingly. This functionality was removed in Leopard, and I am unutterably glad it is back.the worst thing about Snow Leopard so far: it breaks my awesome Hal 9000 screensaver, which apparently will remain broken until Adobe produces a 64-bit version of Flash (which is to say, never ever ever.) |

I need help. I started a new job about 8 months ago and my biggest thing is not making friends of co-workers. I have not had a new friend in about 5 years for the fact i normally fall for them. He works in another department but they work closely with my department. He became insistent that i go out with him and some co-workers, I did and I started liking him as a friend. I started falling in love with him. I know he is straight and married. his wife works in the same company. How do i go about this. I really don't want to lose him as a friend but it hurts me to be around him yet hurts me to not be around him. Does anyone have any advice. I need to talk to him on Tuesday. I normally would have just started ignoring him but i can't as i work with him. I started to try avoid him and not talk to him a bit. He looked honestly hurt that i wasn't talking to him much. Lost and confused ...................................... Thanks for the help. I did some soul searching and I think that its not love but the warm fuzzy's you get from being around a good friend. I realized that i have not had one sexual thought about him. Yes he is cute and has a killer smile (i can still appreciate that right?) I am young btw only realized and admitted I was guy in grade 12 (about five years ago)So contact with potential friends was limited. I can change jobs as my line of work is limited and that would mean changing cities. Since i never let friendship develop in the past the warm fuzzy's must have been misinterpreted. I still wanna tell him I'm gay Thanks a ton for the help |

To Eikaiwa or not to Eikawa
I have the chance to move to Japan on the back of a big Walmart style English school, but I'm hearing that the hours are long and often times people dislike these "corporate" teaching jobs. I also have the option to move to Taiwan and look for a job with the same pay but better hours. BUT it's Taiwan, and not Japan... Keep in mind that I am generally pretty lazy when it comes to work (hey I'm honest!), so anything above 35 hours is not cool at all. What would you guys do? I've always wanted to live in Japan, but Taiwan (Taipei) seems pretty sweet and it's only a 2 hour plane ride to Osaka. Thanks! |

Whoops, a little late again - sorry! At least it's still Thursday somewhere in the US! Today's word is one of my favourites, because it lets you insult people whilst, at worst, them not knowing what you're saying and, at best, them thinking it's a compliment! Mendicant [men-di-kant] adjective or nounDefinitionAdj., Begging, the characteristics of a beggar. Noun., Beggar. EtymologyFrom Latin mendīcare, to beg, from mendīcus, needy, beggar, from mendum, physical defect. UsageLarry and Frank had been friends for years, both living homeless, but still managing to survive nonetheless. Today, Frank was a bit down and started to talk about giving up and just ending it all by getting himself cleaned up, some nice clothes and getting a job. Larry would have none of that, though! Shaking Frank firmly by the shoulders he shouted "Enough, Frank! That's loser talk! Are you a mendi can or a mendicant!?" |

A couple of weeks ago, I decided on a whim to check out the Salvation Army down the street... at 4:55, when they close at 5. Not my smartest impulse, but it did yield a few shots. ( Welcome! Now GTFO... ) |
